In a secret ballot election conducted by the Connecticut State Board of Labor Relations on February 26, 2018 the Wolcott BOE Paraprofessionals, Library Aides and Security Aides recently voted nearly unanimously to join UPSEU.
The employees were frustrated with the lack of representation and support they were receiving from their former union, CILU/UE. As a result, the employees contacted UPSEU to learn more about the organization, and were impressed with the information they received. The unit as well received great reports about UPSEU in the independent research they conducted.
Any cloud of uncertainty for a change in representation was erased when they received more help and support for a pending grievance from UPSEU Labor Relations Representative, Colleen Ezzo, than they had from their own union. Colleen Ezzo stated, “Despite this group doing all the leg work on gathering strong evidence to support the grievance, the CILU/UE Union Representative called their grievance frivolous and went as far as notifying the Superintendent as such!”
UPSEU welcomes the Wolcott BOE Paraprofessionals, Library Aides and Security Aides into our strong, committed and continually growing family!
