On Thursday, November 16, 2017 six Paraeducators from Southington Public Schools had the privilege to attend the Second Annual Paraeducator Development and Leadership Symposium.The event was held at the State Capital and was sponsored by CREC. There were various topics specific to Special Education which were covered.

One keynote speaker, Bryan Klimkiewicz, Special Education Bureau Chief for the Connecticut State Department of Education, challenged those in attendance to foster greater independence with students. Taking a step back so students can move forward was the theme throughout the entire day’s program.

All in attendance left with a renewed sense of enthusiasm for being present in the lives of their students.
