The Southington Paraprofessional's sponsored their annual district wide Dress Down day, for Bread for Life, on Thursday, November 7, 2013. Due to the support and help from their members, the Board of Education, UPSEU, and school employees, the event was a huge success and the fundraiser tripled last year's donations! The Southington Paraprofessional chapter made a donation to Eldon Stafford, the Executive Director for Bread for Life, for $1,238.00. The Southington Paraprofessionals also donated non-perishable food items they collected during their Professional Development days last month. This fundraiser is part of on an ongoing effort and commitment by the paraprofessionals, to partner with Bread for Life and to help make a difference to those individuals in our community that would benefit from the services that this wonderful program offers.
Bread for Life is a unique feeding program which has helped to feed a multitude of people throughout the years since they opened their doors in 1984. They prepare and serve hot meals at noon Monday through Friday. They are located in the Friendship Hall building behind the Mason's building, 76 Main Street, Southington, CT.
