Ridgefield BOE Secretaries Unanimously Approve 3 Year Contract
The Ridgefield BOE Secretaries bargaining unit recently ratified a three (3) year contract with wage increases (including step movement) during the terms of the contract. The committee worked hard to have retirement insurance incentive language included in the final contract and they were successful. In addition, the bereavement leave language was substantially improved in the contract as well as other language items.
The negotiating committee consisted of Unit President Ellen Mari, Vice President Colleen Murphy, and Geneth Mayernick. The committee led by UPSEU Labor Relations Representative Matt Geer worked extremely well together in achieving the best possible contract for the membership. This was evident by the membership unanimously approving the contract at the ratification meeting.
The Ridgefield BOE Secretaries Unit President, Ellen Mari, had this to say, “Proof of a great move to UPSEU! The Ridgefield Secretarial Union was expertly and professionally represented in recent contract negotiations by Matt Geer of UPSEU. Matt was the driving force in helping us to negotiate a great contract that was unanimously accepted by the membership; in fact, we were able to negotiate even better terms than we expected! After years of disrespectful treatment by ‘management’ during negotiations, Matt's professionalism and know-how set a completely different tone. I know I speak for my entire membership when I say thank you Matt, for all you’ve done so far, and we look forward to a long, happy and productive relationship with you and UPSEU."
