On Tuesday, April 9, 2013 in a Connecticut State Board of Labor Relations secret ballot election, the South Windsor Municipal employees voted to leave SEIU and join UPSEU in a landslide victory.

After being represented by SEIU for numerous years, the membership found that SEIU was not meeting their expectations. SEIU's weak representation and poor performance at the negotiation table were two of the primary reasons for leaving SEIU. The membership looks forward to a long partnership with UPSEU.
