UPSEU secured two victories through Connecticut Labor Relations Board elections held on February 17, 2010.
Hamden Parks and Recreation, a nineteen member unit, voted 14 to 2 to leave AFSCME Council 4 to become part of UPSEU. UPSEU's Matt Geer, who worked with this unit, commended the unit members for staying committed to their desire for improved representation.
Waterford Police Officers also became part of UPSEU, as a result of their decision to vote for UPSEU in their state run election held the same day. The unit of forty two officers was previously part of AFSCME Council 15. UPSEU's Ron Suraci, who headed up the campaign, thanked the officers for their confidence in UPSEU and its COPS Division stating, "We loook forward to providing the unit with the professional, personal representation they need and deserve. We are ready to hit the ground running."
The elections mark UPSEU's 5th and 6th Connecticut election victories since December1, 2009.
