UPSEU Scholarship Application

 

QUALIFICATIONS
 
 
The member must maintain good standing with United Public Service Employees Union for at least two (2) consecutive years to be eligible for a scholarship and must be in good standing at the time of award and payment.
 
A Dependent Child may recieve a $500 scholarship ($250 Fall, $250 Spring) for attending an undergraduate accredited college full-time (minimum of 12 credits) or a trade or vocational school leading to certification/licensing in a specific field. (The course of study is subject to the approval of the Scholarship Committee.)
 
Awards for dependent children will not be made for graduate studies.
 
Official enrollment verification or Bursar's receipt must be submitted, if selected.
 
Awards will be granted for the amount of the course to a maximum of $250 per semester with an annual maximum of $500 per school year.
 
Awards will be paid at the end of each school semester upon receipt of an official transcript from the higher learning institution.
 
The applicant must maintain no less than a 2.0 (C) grade point average per semester in order to receive the award.
 
Awards will only be paid for accredited  courses of study.
 
Awards are not transferable.
 
The final school report card may be sent separately after the July 1st deadline, if it is not available.
 
Winners will have a one year wait to apply for future scholarship awards.
 
Applications MUST be postmarked by July 1st of each year.  Applications may be submitted in person, by mail, by fax (631-738-7236) or by applying online

The scholarship committee reserves the right to reject an application if false information is provided. It may from time to time, adjust the criteria, procedures, forms as is deemed necessary to protect the integrity of the scholarship program and/or to ensure its most effective use and administration. Awards are granted by lottery system.

Winners are chosen in the month of July and will be notified during the month of August . A letter will be sent indicating the award and procedure for receiving payments. Members must remain in good standing with the Union at the point of scholarship payment. The Union reserves the right to publish a list of recipients.
