Governor Hochul has come out in support of making changes to Tier 6 as have legislators in both the State Senate and Assembly. Local government leaders specifically in counties, towns, villages and others, however, oppose any changes due to claims of increased taxes.

We believe that with the retirement system fully funded, together with the need to recruit and retain public employees, the time is now for equity.
