Bethel BOE Food Service Workers Vote Nearly Unanimously to Join UPSEU
Updated On: Jun 21, 2017
On Wednesday, June 14, 2017 the Bethel BOE Food Service Workers voted nearly unanimously by a vote of 19 to 1 to join the United Public Service Employees Union (UPSEU). This secret ballot election was conducted and administered by the Connecticut State Board of Elections.
UPSEU Regional Director Matt Geer stated, "These workers previously had no union representation and they first sought recommendations from those employed within the Bethel Public Schools and the Town of Bethel. They learned quickly from those within the District and Town that UPSEU was the clear choice for them, as our organization also represents the Bethel Police Officers, Police Dispatchers/Clerical Employees/Animal Control Officers and the BOE Paraeducators/ABA's. The employees came together and were united in seeking the best representation available. The unit is long overdue for having an advocate in their corner and UPSEU can now provide them with the proper representation they having been missing for decades."
We welcome the Bethel BOE Food Service Workers to our ever growing UPSEU family!
