The New Fairfield BOE Secretaries have unanimously approved a successor collective bargaining agreement. The new agreement has a 3 year duration which includes above market wage increases in each year of the contract, retroactive to July 1, 2014. The new agreement also includes one additional sick day in each year of the agreement, which raises the employee's number of sick days from 12 to 15, by the end of the agreement. In addition, the health insurance remained unchanged in any way during the first year of the agreement.
UPSEU's Matt Geer, who led the team during these negotiations stated, "These negotiations were a huge success and our membership was extremely pleased and supportive of the new agreement. The secretaries were expecting to closely mirror the teacher's contract, as in years past (under the direction of another union) and they were impressed with the fact that their contract was now superior to the teacher's recently negotiated contract."
Special thanks to our negotiating committee consisting of Unit Co-Presidents Barbara Schwalbe and Carole Dommermuth, as well as Donna Fejes, on all of their hard work and support throughout this process.
